My passion for all things design was cemented when I was 10 years old and started to learn Photoshop.
Years later, having completed an Honors B.A.A. in Media Studies and a Digital Communication diploma, I made the decision to continue on to an intensive Interior Decorating diploma.
It was love at first floor plan.
In my most recent role as the sole in-house designer at a residential design-build in Los Angeles, I collaborated with Architecture and Construction teams on space planning and construction documents, sourced client finishes while building out our material library, and also helped implement an inventory tracking system for finishes and fixtures stored on-site. Previously, I was the first hire at a young design studio that was the sister to an established architecture firm. Together, the Principal and I managed over 30 projects in the first year during the pandemic surge, providing me invaluable experience and accelerated growth within the field. As we grew the team, I developed and implemented our documentation and filing standards, before ultimately taking on clients independently and managing projects from the initial site measure through completion. Through my career and education, I have amassed extensive experience in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Enscape, and Adobe suite. I am an enthusiastic learner, love to be a cheerleader and part of a team, and have a solution-based attitude with over 20 years of customer-facing experience.
I truly love what I do, and believe this is reflected in my clients’ experience and the energy I bring to a team.
When I’m not planning, sourcing and inhaling design content online, I am exploring my new city with my family and basking in the beauty of the California sun and its palm trees.
A dream is a wish your heart makes.
I grew up watching Designer Guys and Trading Spaces and spending countless hours designing homes on The Sims. Whenever my mom had a project planned around the house, I was right there with her, happy to partake in painstakingly removing wallpaper and popcorn ceilings, patching and painting, even refinishing our brick fireplace. When the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” came about, I was always ready with my answer: “I want to be an Interior Designer.” I even stated as much in my “About Me” project in the third grade.
Many years later, my youthful conviction long forgotten, I decided to utilize my technology-based comfort zone and get a degree that focused on multimedia communication. At the end of four years, even though a part of me really enjoyed the design aspect, I was starting to resent spending all day in front of my computer. I finished off my degree with a marketing internship that drove the feeling home, making me all too aware that the lack of anything tactile and physical in my design career was limiting my passion. Somehow, my love for home renovation shows was still a constant, and my answer when people asked what I wanted to do with my life had nothing to do with marketing: “I want to flip houses”. I had even said as much in the internship review.
A few weeks after I graduated, it hit me… You actually can ‘flip’ houses for a living. It’s called Interior Design. And just like my 8-year-old self had proclaimed, I wanted to be an Interior Designer.
And now I am.
